Renaissance House provides a safe and inspirational environment for artists with special talents. A residency at Renaissance House consists of accommodations, meals, lectures and fellowship meetings for up to two weeks.

Residents are selected by our admissions panels, which are comprised of a revolving group of distinguished professionals in each artistic discipline.

    Eligibility
We accept applications from artists working in all aspects of literary and verbal arts as long as the work is issue oriented in some way.
That includes but is not limited to: poetry, memoir, mystery, journalism, comic books, non-fiction, plays, screen plays, legitimate stage plays, experimental plays, documentaries, novels and anything to do with words.
All of the works must be of a high quality; our criterion for acceptance is not just excellence but need is a major component as is desire and lack of opportunity.

Renaissance House encourages applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics. To that end, both emerging and established writers are invited to apply. We encourage the domestic worker who writes in her spare time after her children have gone to bed as well as the PhD candidate working on their thesis.

Renaissance House is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all persons regardless of race, sex, color, religion, creed, national origin or ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and disability. No one with the AIDS virus, ARC, or HIV shall be denied admission as long as he/she is otherwise qualified.

    Application periods and deadlines
Application deadlines are not postmark deadlines; all required materials must be received at Renaissance House in NYC or on line at renaissancehse@aol.com. We accept applications on a rolling basis.
